Dr Paulo Marchiori Buss

Paulo Marchiori Buss is the director and researcher at the Center for Global Health, Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz). He has a medical residency in Pediatrics (1974) and specializes in Pediatrics (Sociedade Brasileira de Pediatria, 1975) and Public Health (Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública, 1975). He was the President of Fiocruz for two terms (2000-2008) and Vice-President of the Executive Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) (2010-2011). In addition, he represented Brazil in the last fifteen World Health Assemblies (2005 to 2019) and in several meetings of the Pan American Health Conference and the Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). He received from the Presidency of the Republic the Grand Cross of the Order of Medical Merit in 2010 and the Order of Rio Branco in 2007 for relevant services rendered to foreign policy. Paulo does research in Global Health, Health Diplomacy, Health Policies and Public Health. He is currently developing studies on the international and national 2030 Agenda and SDGs development at global, regional (Latin-america and Caribbean) and national levels.
